Thanks to Web 2.0 we can connect, communicate and collaborate with each other in more effective way. We can form online communities and societies.
Web 2.0 enables us to use open applications and services. User is in the center of attention and basically everyone can be an author of content. It’s like another social revolution but this time in cyberspace.
According to Hart e-learning is found in following forms:
- Online courses with a blend of onlineteaching and face-to-face interaction (to a limited extent)
- The LMS that manages students’ learning
- Live learning systems that support the delivery of scheduled online sessions.
At the beginning it was all about delivering content, mainly in the form of online training produced by experts.
Our approach to e-learning is to create and share information and knowledge with others using social media network such us Facebook, LinkedIn, Wikipedia to support collaborative approach to learning.
Significant features of our methodology:
- People-Centered learning – we bring people together in the learning process. Our main focus is on people-centred learning rather than content-centred learning.
- Bottom Up Learning Approach – we adopt bottom-up approach. It gives the opportunity to learners to participate in course creation. It also build commitment and engagement.
- Content creation – we provide tools for collaboration among learners. They can discuss the course and content, interact with tutors and provide feedback to make the trainings even better.
- Dynamic content publishing – learners can use blogs and social media to communicate to each other, publish and edit their own publications using wikipedia to promote collective authorship and harness collective intelligence.
Our success has been build on many factors:
- The reliance on active rather than passive learning.
- An emphasis on deep learning and understanding of the subject.
- Increased responsibility and accountability on the part of the learner.
- Mutual respect within the learner – teacher relationship.
Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.
